What does Animal Services do?

  • We protect the public's safety by enforcing animal codes, ordinances, and animal quarantines
  • We prevent and investigate the inhumane treatment of animals
  • We implement, maintain, and encourage an adoption program for impounded animals
  • We provide, with veterinary supervision and/or assistance, medical attention for all impounded animals
  • We receive and process animal bite reports
  • We investigate animal cruelty cases and livestock attacks by domestic animals
  • We issue county animal licensing
  • We enforce local and state laws pertaining to animals
  • We provide low cost rabies and microchipping clinics
  • We pick-up stray domestic animals and loose livestock
  • We provide aid and services to help the public locate their lost animals
  • We work with rescue organizations and other municipal shelters on transferring animals
  • We educate and inform the public in the areas of animal codes, animal ordinances, and responsible pet ownership
